cat in tree again?
my moms cat keeps going up trees and not coming down. He has been up several trees and we always had to rescue him. once he was up a tree for 6 days and we had to hire a tree climber because this tree was too tall for any laddder. Now hes up one again, is their any way to stop or discourage him from going up them. Please no they will come down, or have you ever seen a dead cat in a tree comments, of course not they die and fall out or are too weak to hang on
any advice would be great thanks.
She lives in a treed area and falling alll the trees is not an option. He is a tabby kitten she found under the house that wont stop getting stuck in the trees.
On the trees that you know Mr. Kitty climbs put a aluminum band around the trunk. This is normally used to dissaude squirrels from climbing the trees from the ground up. For this reason I believe it would be a very viable option for you.

This is NOT what I have, I have aluminum/metal band and it is wider, the product mentioned appears to be rubber, which is sort of beside the point because cat claws can penetrate that. However this was the only website that came up on my websearch for you to get a basic idea of what I have.
I just called my grandfather who put the bands up for me, he said that he got 8" wide aluminum strips and a heavy duty stapler that can punch through both the strip and the tree bark at Home Depot. He suggests that you invest in some gloves to prevent cutting yourself upon installation.
I found your question while looking up how to get MY Miss Kitty down, coming up to her 3rd day.....BUT! Try this trick, it passed through my mind...oh! The tree my kitty is up on is the only one on the property line that does NOT have the band...so that's interesting, no?
