why do my dogs come to me when someone else calls them?
Not a stranger but someone else in the family? Whenever I sit down my dog will come and always sit on my lap or right beside me. Lots of times though whenever my sister or mom will call him or the other dog they will come to me instead sometimes wagging their tail and other times they'll just jump and lay on my lap. Same with when were playing with a toy, he'll bring the toy to me and if they try to grab it to play with him he'll swivel his head to wear only i can grab it lol
You've done a great job of teaching trust. Your dog trusts you to enrich his life. He knows that when he goes to you, he gets the attention he wants; yours! You sure could have worse problems. If you want to change that behavior, every time the dog comes to you, stand up and move until he visits the other person, only after the visit make yourself available. It's a little like cheating, you're training the dog to visit but that's what we do with therapy dogs
