Is there a way to sharpen low resolution, blurry text in jpg files in Photoshop?
I got some small texts in a document photo jpg that appeared to be too small to read. General sharpening technique won't work because the resolution was just too low. Is there a way to sharpen it to readable status?
If the text is already too small to read, there is no practical way to make it readable, despite the other suggestions. There is only so much data in the image, and since it is all pixels, all you will get by enlarging is a bigger, more blurred image.
Think of it this way: say it takes a minimum of 10 pixels to make the letter readable. But your image only has 3 pixels in that space in the image. There is no way to add the necessary pixels to bring that level up to 19, they don't exist in the image and sharpening or enlarging can actually make it worse.
I am afraid you are in the position of trying to create something out of nothing; it can't be done. (There are techniques and software—Photoshop plugins like Genuine Fractals—that can do a reasonable job on making a small blurry image acceptable, but they can't perform miracles.)
