In the dead of winter, at the wrong school I saw the mysteries unfold to the world; it started with the fence in the ball field of my old middle school. In reverse spell I saw the letters poked through the holes of the chain link fence, like carnations, full round and pink, tinged with yellow-pale,
...it was just the backs of water cups.
I'll try and describe for you how it feels remembering the joy of changing schools; the letters backwards shouted o'er the fields. "CHS 09" their stark message read. Old people stare and think the kids are fools whose joys are not solitary ordeals. But it's December, these, two different schools.
