How do I stop my 20 month old son from climbing on everything??
ie. he just climbed onto the washing basket then the windowsill and started turning on and off the lights, or he climbs up my dresser in the lounge. He's my third child and will not respond to NO and however many times I remove him or stop him he still climbs when I've got my back turned. He mastered the cot and playpen long ago. lol
LOL! Finally I can laugh at someone else! 
My son has been a climber since 11 months old and there is NOTHING you can do to stop him when he’s determined like that. I spoke with our doctor about it, he said it’s very normal. It’s almost like a “Need” when you have a climber. To stop them will do nothing because obviously they’ll find a way. My son would climb everything! Flip my laundry baskets over, drag them into other rooms, when we moved he climbed the boxes in the house, he climbs diaper boxes, ANYTHING that will make him a millimeter higher, he’ll stand on it.
We just go to the playground all the time. It’s all I can do. I’ve said NO, I’ve tried time out, I’ve tried spankings…..I’ve learned to just let him do what he’s going to do….just make sure he does it safely! And obviously, certain things are off limits. My son knows he’s not to climb on the kitchen chairs but he tries anyways. He watches us as he’s doing it though, and THAT ends up being a time out because he’s breaking the rules. He’s okay to go to the couch, laundry baskets, he can stand on the toilet to brush his teeth, but that’s it.
Just try your VERY best to deal with it. I know it’s hard, but admit it, nothing is funnier than when you turn around and see your kid standing on top of the table. Panic first, laugh about it later!
