hydraulic pump woodsplitter and chainsaw?
I am buying a 27 ton wood splitter at Home Depot and a hydraulic chain saw on-line (Fairmont). I would like to combine both and make a firewood processing machine. Is the hydraulic pump on the log splitter strong enough and fast enough to run the hydraulic chain saw? Will I run into any complications?

When you have the log splitter and the chain saw run at different times then the hydraulic power pack will run hotter but should handle. Just make sure you cool the oil down. The problem that you will have is to switch between the two. It is simple enough but hydraulic switches and valve cost a lot of money. I would get hydraulic hand valves and alternate between the two. It would be manual but a lot less effort. First however I would try and run both together.
With hydraulic power packs that do more work the pumps are the same but the cooling improves with a radiator and a fan cooling the oil down. If you don't then the oil properties change. Then you make sludge and wear your system out. Or you have to change oil more often. Of course in the saw mill where I worked we ran the machines 24 hours a day 5 days a week.
