What to do with a sagging (sinking) wood deck?
It is 20 yrs old cedar deck (33 ft x15 ft). The deck sags or tilts down for a few inches towards the back wall of my house.
My concern now is (a) it may sags further and collapse later, and (b) rain water from deck surface is running towards the house foundation, and running the house foundation over time.

at 20 yrs old chances are is its just wore out,the footings are weak,where it joins the house has settled and the house or deck has shifted and not the same way as the rest of the structure,you have a couple of options here,(a) you can tear the deck completely down and rebuild it from scratch or (b) you can jack the low areas up with a house jack or train jack and level it up and this will buy you some time but the best thing would be replace. i know thats easy for me to say,im not footing the bill,but you have to admit its done its job and paid for it self,and not only one or two things has caused it to do this,its a combination of a lot of things that has brought this on .so good luck and happy building
